Save energy and reduce emissions, deal with climate change, protect forests, and use wood and paper products in a reasonable and economical way.
The rational use of paper and wood not only protects the forest, increases the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed, but also reduces energy consumption in paper and wood processing and transportation.
Refused disposable chopsticks. China produces 80 billion pairs of disposable chopsticks each year. It can be connected from front to back. It can return to the moon 21 times from the earth. It can spread 363 Tiananmen Squares and reduce forest reserves by 2 million cubic meters per year for the production of disposable chopsticks. If the use of disposable chopsticks is reduced by 10% nationwide, it will be equivalent to reducing CO2 emissions by about 103,000 tons per year. Every time you recycle 3 pairs of disposable chopsticks, you can produce one sheet of A4 paper.
Reuse textbooks. If one-third of the country’s textbooks are recycled each year, it will reduce paper consumption by about 200,000 tons, save 260,000 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 660,000 tons.
Double-sided printing and copying of paper. Paper double-sided printing, copying, can reduce costs, but also save energy and reduce emissions. As long as 10% of the country's printing and copying do this, then each year it can reduce paper consumption by about 51,000 tons, energy-saving 64,000 tons of standard coal, corresponding to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide 164,000 tons.
Using recycled paper, using induction water to produce 1 ton of paper using raw wood as raw material, consumes 40% more energy than producing 1 ton of recycled paper. The use of 1 recycled paper can save about 1.8 grams of standard coal and a corresponding emission reduction of 4.7 grams of carbon dioxide. If the use of 2% paper in the country is changed to recycled paper, then about 452,000 tons of standard coal can be saved per year and 1,164 tons of carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced.
Select e-books instead of printed books and journals, and use e-mail instead of paper letters. Using one email instead of one paper letter can reduce 52.6 grams of carbon dioxide. If one-third of the country's paper letters are replaced by e-mail, then paper consumption will be reduced by about 3.9 million tons per year, energy saving will be 50,000 tons of standard coal, and carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 129,000 tons.
